The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) introduced over 200 electric buses. PMPML awarded an order for a total of 650 buses to EveyTrans-Olectra Greentech limited consortium on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) basis. The Electric buses received huge applause from the passengers, as the E-buses offered a noiseless, pollution-free journey. Once, citizens of Pune used to “Nako Re Babas” as the past city services were not comfortable to commute in the city.
With the Olectra Greentech manufactured Electric buses and effective operations of EveyTrans, city commuting has become a pleasure.
The city transport ecosystem has entirely transformed with air-conditioned, electric buses. As of 31st January 2022, these electric buses operated for 1,16,78,743 kilometres in Pune city and reduced a significant amount of Carbon (CO2) emissions. The PMPML has saved substantial costs, as the operation and maintenance are taken care of by EveyTrans. Currently, the Evey is operating about 200 buses and soon will introduce another 450 buses.
650 electric buses will be introduced
It is estimated that at an average about 25 per cent of the city pollution is from public transport in several cities across the world. Once all the 650 electric buses are introduced into the Pune transport system, the city’s public transport ecosystem will become a role model for the other cities to reduce pollution levels.
